If you want a Disney Resort where the location can actually change the way you spend your vacation, Yacht Club and Beach Club deserve your attention.
There are plenty of beautiful resorts at Walt Disney World, but Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort offer something that is hard to beat: you can walk to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, enjoy one of Disney’s most impressive resort pools, and have an entire collection of dining and entertainment options right outside your door.
These two Deluxe Resorts sit side-by-side along Crescent Lake, sharing many amenities while offering distinctly different atmospheres.
And if you’re trying to decide between them, the differences are worth understanding.
I’ve found that choosing a Disney Resort isn’t simply about finding the prettiest lobby or the most popular pool. It’s about figuring out what will make your family’s vacation easier and more enjoyable.
For some families, that means the monorail.
For others, it’s the Skyliner.
And for many EPCOT and Hollywood Studios fans, it’s being able to walk there instead.
Here’s everything you need to know about Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts.
Yacht Club and Beach Club at a Glance
Both resorts are Deluxe Resorts located along Crescent Lake in the EPCOT Resort area.
They share access to many of the same amenities, including the spectacular Stormalong Bay pool complex, and both offer walking access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney describes Yacht Club as having a more formal New England yacht-club aesthetic, while Beach Club has a more casual, beach-inspired New England atmosphere.

The two are connected, so you don’t have to choose between experiencing the charm of both.
The Location Is the Star
If you’re considering Yacht Club or Beach Club, pay attention to the map.
This is one of the biggest reasons I recommend these resorts to certain clients.
Both are located within walking distance of EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can also use Friendship Boats to travel around Crescent Lake and to the parks.
And that changes the way a park day can feel.
Imagine finishing dinner at EPCOT and simply walking back to your room.
No waiting for a bus.
No getting on crowded transportation after fireworks.
No loading everyone into a car.
Just walk.
For families with tired kids, that convenience can be worth a lot.
Walking to EPCOT
This is one of the biggest selling points for both resorts.
Instead of entering EPCOT through the front entrance, you’ll arrive through the International Gateway.
That puts you right into the World Showcase area.
And if you’re an EPCOT festival fan, this is especially convenient.
Whether you’re visiting for:

you have an incredibly convenient home base.
You can even leave the park for a midday break and return later without feeling like you’ve spent half your afternoon traveling.
That’s the kind of resort convenience I love pointing out to my clients.
Hollywood Studios Is Walkable Too
EPCOT isn’t the only park within walking distance.
Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are also connected to Hollywood Studios by walking paths and Friendship Boats.
This can be particularly useful for families who plan to spend significant time at Hollywood Studios.
Instead of automatically building your day around Disney transportation, you have another option:
Walk.
And having options is one of my favorite things about a Disney vacation.
Stormalong Bay: The Pool That Gets People Talking
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room.
Or perhaps I should say the shipwreck in the pool. 😂
Stormalong Bay is the shared pool complex for Yacht Club and Beach Club, and it’s one of the biggest reasons these resorts are so popular with families.
Disney describes Stormalong Bay as a 3-acre water recreation area featuring a sand-bottom pool, lazy river, shipwreck-themed waterslide, whirlpool spas, and children’s areas.
There’s a lot happening here.
You can:
🏖️ Relax on the sandy-bottom pool
🌊 Float along the lazy river
🚢 Explore the shipwreck
🛝 Ride the waterslide
💦 Let younger kids enjoy the shallow areas
☀️ Find a quieter spot when you want to relax
And this is where I think families should really consider their vacation style.
If your kids love swimming, the resort pool may become an attraction all on its own.
In fact, if you’re paying Deluxe Resort prices and your family loves pool time, this is something I would absolutely factor into the decision.
Don’t Forget the Quiet Pools
Stormalong Bay gets most of the attention, but it isn’t your only option.
There are also leisure pools for guests who want a quieter swimming experience. Disney lists three leisure pools across the Yacht & Beach Club complex, including pools associated with Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Beach Club Villas.
So you can choose the experience you want.
Big pool day? Stormalong Bay.
Quiet afternoon? Find a leisure pool.
Again, options.
Dining at Yacht & Beach Club
Another advantage of this location is the amount of dining available within a very small area.
You’re not limited to the restaurants inside your own building.
You can explore dining throughout the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and the surrounding EPCOT Resort area.
Beaches & Cream
If you’re looking for a fun, nostalgic Disney dining experience, Beaches & Cream is one of the most recognizable spots in the area.
And yes…
Come hungry.
The ice cream parlor is a destination in itself, particularly if your family loves over-the-top desserts.
Disney describes the current Beaches & Cream as a boardwalk-style ice cream parlor.
Yacht Club Dining
Yacht Club offers dining options that fit its more sophisticated atmosphere, making it particularly appealing if you’re looking for a slightly more grown-up Disney dining experience.
Beach Club Dining
Beach Club provides convenient options for families who want to grab something without making a major production out of every meal.
And then there’s the biggest advantage:
You’re next door to EPCOT.
Which means the restaurants of World Showcase become part of your extended dining neighborhood.
That’s a pretty amazing perk.
Yacht Club vs. Beach Club: Which Should You Choose?
This is probably the biggest question.
The good news?
You really can’t make a bad choice.
But I do think certain travelers may naturally gravitate toward one.
Choose Yacht Club if you prefer:
⚓ A more sophisticated, nautical atmosphere
💙 Richer, darker colors
🍽️ A slightly more upscale resort feel
🌊 Easy access to Stormalong Bay
👫 A resort that can appeal especially well to adults and families who like a more refined atmosphere
Choose Beach Club if you prefer:
🏖️ A lighter, more casual coastal atmosphere
☀️ Brighter colors
👨👩👧👦 A relaxed family-friendly feel
🌊 Easy access to Stormalong Bay
🎨 A more playful seaside aesthetic
The biggest thing to remember?
You’re sharing the same incredible location and Stormalong Bay.
So the decision often comes down to atmosphere, room preferences, availability, and price.
Which Resort Is Better for Families?
This is where I think the internet can sometimes make Disney Resort decisions more complicated than they need to be.
Both Yacht Club and Beach Club can work beautifully for families.
If your family:
✔ Loves EPCOT
✔ Loves Hollywood Studios
✔ Loves swimming
✔ Enjoys resort time
✔ Likes having multiple dining options nearby
✔ Appreciates being able to walk places
then these resorts should absolutely be on your shortlist.
And as a mom, I particularly appreciate the flexibility.
A child needs a break?
Go back to the resort.
Everyone is exhausted after a park day?
Walk back.
Want to spend an afternoon at the pool?
You don’t have to feel like you’re “wasting” a park ticket.
You’re simply enjoying your resort.
What About the Skyliner?
Here’s an important distinction for Disney transportation planning:
Yacht Club and Beach Club are not Skyliner resorts.
The Skyliner is nearby, but these resorts don’t have their own Skyliner station.
If you’re looking at the Skyliner specifically, Caribbean Beach Resort is the major hub in this area, with access to the EPCOT and Hollywood Studios routes.
For Yacht Club and Beach Club, your primary advantages are the walking paths and Friendship Boats, along with Disney bus transportation to destinations that aren’t conveniently walkable.
This is a good example of why I don’t recommend choosing a resort based on one transportation method alone.
The question is:
Which transportation options will you actually use most?
Who Should Consider Staying Here?
I would put Yacht Club and Beach Club high on the list for:
EPCOT Lovers
If EPCOT is your family’s favorite park, the location is hard to beat.
Foodies
Having EPCOT—and its enormous selection of dining—so close is a major advantage.
Families Who Love Pools
Stormalong Bay can make the resort itself part of the vacation.
Families Visiting Hollywood Studios
Walking or taking the Friendship Boat gives you alternatives to the bus.
Families Who Want a Resort Day
These resorts make it easy to spend a day enjoying the pool, dining, and Crescent Lake area without entering a theme park.
Who Might Want a Different Resort?
Yacht Club and Beach Club aren’t automatically the best choice for everyone.
I’d consider another resort if:
- Magic Kingdom is your primary park
- The monorail is your top transportation priority
- You don’t expect to use the pool
- You’re looking for a lower-cost Disney Resort
- Your family prefers a more immersive theme
That’s why personalized resort recommendations matter.
A family whose vacation revolves around Magic Kingdom may have completely different priorities than a family planning three EPCOT days.
The EPCOT Resort Area Advantage
One of my favorite things about this entire area is that your resort experience doesn’t end at your resort entrance.
You can stroll around Crescent Lake.
Visit the neighboring resorts.
Grab dinner.
Watch the boats go by.
Walk to EPCOT.
Walk to Hollywood Studios.
Explore the BoardWalk.
And then head back to your room.
It feels less like you’re staying at a hotel and more like you’re staying in a little Disney neighborhood.
That’s a big part of the appeal.
My Advice as a Travel Advisor
When clients ask me, “Which Disney Resort should we choose?”, I don’t immediately start listing my favorites.
I start asking questions.
What parks matter most?
How old are the kids?
Do you want a great pool?
Do you plan to spend time at the resort?
How important is transportation?
Are you foodies?
Do you want to walk to a park?
What’s your budget?
Because those answers can completely change my recommendation.
For one family, the Polynesian might be perfect.
For another, the Riviera makes more sense.
And for an EPCOT-loving family that values walkability, dining, and an amazing pool?
Yacht Club or Beach Club may be exactly what they’re looking for.
Final Thoughts
Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts are two of those Disney destinations that can be easy to overlook when you’re comparing resorts on a spreadsheet.
But once you consider the whole experience—the location, the walking paths, Crescent Lake, dining, transportation options, and especially Stormalong Bay—they become much more compelling.
And for me, that’s what makes a Disney Resort worth talking about.
It’s not just where you sleep.
It’s how the resort fits into the way you vacation.
If you’re an EPCOT fan, a pool-loving family, a foodie, or simply someone who values having options when it comes to transportation, I’d absolutely put Yacht Club and Beach Club on your Disney Resort shortlist.
